Vigilante - Bardstown road, near-ish to the Caern - Apr 10

[Mr Speaks]

Two men walk down Bardstown road, one of them a ridiculously large black man standing near 7'. The other a lithe narrow, yet athletic looking man, with tanned skin. They watch everyone passing on the street with careful eyes.

Surrounding pedestrians form a bubble around these men, if not crossing the street to avoid them. The Curse largely evident to the trained eye.

[DerekCase]

Devon was walking down Bardstown Rd, getting more upset as he walked. He tried repeatedly to stop and talk to people. Noticing the large man's size, he figured maybe he'd be brave enough. He waved and approached them.

[Mr Speaks]

The large man looks to the smaller one. The smaller one nods to Devon, then concentrates on him. After a moment the littler guy shakes his head at the bigger and shrugs. Then walks towards Devon.

"Hello."

[DerekCase]

"Hey, one of you got a smoke?" Devon says, trying to be nice. He really needed to come up with a new opening line. He heard that smoking was now a bad thing to most people.

[Mr Speaks]

The bigger man once again looks to the smaller. The smaller man's hand hovers to his pocket, then hesitates slightly. An idea seem to pop into his mind and he smiles, not a grin more of an 'ah-ha'.

"Uh, yea. Actually I do, bad habit, been trying to quit." He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a marlboro long. He holds it out to Devon.

[DerekCase]

Devon takes the cigarette and lights it. "So what brings y'all to Bardstown?"

[Mr Speaks]

(The cigarette is awakened)

"We're just walking around, checking out the neighborhood I guess, making sure there's nothing bad here."

The bigger guy nods then says in a southern african accent, "What about you?"

[DerekCase]

Devon smiles as the buzz lights his mind, then his smile slips. He stands there with a confused look on his face for a moment before replying, "I was just seeing if I could make any new friends."

[Mr Speaks]

"Something wrong with the cigarette? Sometimes the long can be a bit strong." The little guy says.

The big watches Devon carefully.

[DerekCase]

"So um, you don't see too many smokes like this. I have some, but a friend of mine has to make em for me. She knows more than I do about those things." Devon had a feeling, and if he was wrong, well they'd just be two random guys who thought he was crazy. "You guys hungry? I was on my way to get a Big Mac anyway."

[Mr Speaks]

The little guy smiles, "Sure, why not."

The bigger guy nods.

[DerekCase]

Devon starts walking toward mcdonalds. "I'm Devon Carter, by the way. You can call me Paces."

[Mr Speaks]

(Oh shit, I forgot something very important, inserting)


"I am Jaiden," says the smaller of the two, "this big guy is Jelani."

The man nods, obviously of African descent he differs from most, his skin is paler but not white. His hair is an odd blonde-ish color. Upon close inspection his eyes have a slight reddish tone to them.

They follow Devon, the circle of people around them growing wider.

[DerekCase]

As they begin to approach Mcdonalds, Devon turns the the bigger of the two. "This is kinda going out on a limb here, but you wouldn't happen to have an auspice?" After a slight pause he then says, "Not all-spice, I've had someone say that before. If you don't though, it's cool. Most people don't know what it is."

[Mr Speaks]

The big guys eyes widen, and the shorter guy looks surprised but quickly laughs.

"I'm an Ahroun," Jelani says.


"Philodox," Jaiden adds in.

[DerekCase]

"See, you ask enough eventually someone'll answer. Naw, I'm just kidding. I'm an Ahroun. Formally, Devon Carter, Paces-the-Car, Glasswalker, Ahroun, Fostern of the Fortune's Landing Caern, once a member of the Gaiahertz caern." Devon smiles as he walks into Mcdonalds. "It's good to see more of us. It doesn't seem to happen very often anymore."

[Mr Speaks]

"What do you mean by us specifically? Like, which type of us?" Jaiden says.

Jelani just watches from the corner of his eye.

[DerekCase]

Devon pauses for a moment, confused. "Well... could you be a bit more obvious? Subterfuge is just not my strong point. If you meant wolf, I just like seeing fera."

[Mr Speaks]

"Well, we're not Garou." Looking uncomfortable at talking out in the open.

[DerekCase]

People were looking at them fearfully, and the man behind the counter called his boss to take Devon's order. "I just want three big Macs and a large fry. You guys want anything?"

[Mr Speaks]

They both say almost simultaneously, "We want Chicken, the 11."

[DerekCase]

"Okay... Then two 11s as well." Devon pays then turns back to the two. "So what are you if you don't mind me asking?"

[Mr Speaks]

The smaller guy puts his hand in front of himself, between him and the counter and out of sight of watchers. He concentrates, seeming to take effort to do something.

Then his skin on his hand starts to scale over, becoming hard and dry. Hard dark claws extending from his finger tips.

[DerekCase]

Devon stands motionless and stares at the scaly spectacle. After a few moments, he says, "Were-lizard?"

[Mr Speaks]

"In essence."

The bigger guy stands just watching.
