Missing the Old - Rhia's Tree - Umbral Bawn

Rhia stood below the tree she once lived in, looking up at the now leafy branches swaying gently in the umbral breeze. She then looks down to the base of the trunk, where a rather large sliver of mirror leans against the barky surface, glinting softly.

Rhia takes a step forward and grabs onto the edge of the mirror, letting her eyes slide shut. She takes a deep, though somewhat shaky breath, and concentrates for a moment.

The surface of the mirror flickers for a moment, and then shows the yard of a house, somewhere in the outskirts of Louisville. It's a nice house. Probably an upper middle class family. In the yard is a woman, in her mid to late 40s, watching a boy around Rhia's age play with a golden retriever. In the woman's hands is a baby.

Rhia opens her eyes slowly and looks down at the scene, her eyes sad. She reaches out and gently touches the surface of the mirror where the woman and the baby is, almost longingly.
